Sudan is the largest country in Africa with 28 million people but isn't really on the tourist map due to a history of war. The Sudanese coast stretches out for 400 miles along the Red Sea between Egypt and Eritrea. The diving in Sudan is different from the usually crowded dive sites in Egypt. The reefs are vitually untouched. Dive trips to Sudan are a little bit harder to organize, but the effort is absolutely worth it!
Now Sudan is opening for divers it is an adventure to experience big fish diving without equal. Sure Cocos, Malpelo and Galapagos may offer big fish and maybe more of them, but those are generally rocky places. In Sudan you will see sharks in profusion parading before beautiful soft corals. Sudan diving may sound a bit daunting, but it is well worth it. It is equal to the best in the world, definitely the best in the Red Sea.
